Above: New scene without Background, this goes after the running scene in act 2. Lucy walking through the dark forest into the light of the seaside.
The 2nd act of my animation is almost complete. I've begun animating the 2 final shots in the act. Then I will add two more shots in the 3rd act in order to flesh out the action more.
The main problems I'm working on are the 2 run cycles in the videos below and the scene transitions in the opening shot of the animation. Another problem is what kind of sound I should use?

Artist Statement
My animation is based on a poem I wrote about a girl with a light bulb attached to her head who wanders around trying to find her purpose in life. Lucy leaves her house and journeys through the woods to the sea. The piece ends where Lucy finds her purpose becoming the light for a lighthouse for a ship lost at sea. I decided to use a 16:9 widescreen format in order to show the vastness of the ocean and the other landscapes. The animation was made in After Effects using several still images I made in Photoshop. The 4 stills are the original 4 panels but expanded into a 16:9 size.
I want the viewer to be able to take from this a sense of self-worth. The main message behind this animation is that everything no matter how bizarre has a greater purpose in life. The viewer should be able to put themselves in Lucy’s shoes walking the path of life until we arrive at the point where we are doing something that we enjoy and gives us a fulfilled sense of being.

Week 2

So far turning my 8 panels into an animation is going pretty well. I have manged to do some little animation in the last 4 panels that are Assymetry, Animate, Dyanamic, and Geometric. I've converted each panel into a 16:9 widescreen and begun manipulating them in After Effects. I'm really happy about how I keyed the Bulge Distortion to follow the lightbulb giving it a more convincing look.
